The lack of systematic monitoring of the project’s progress usually leads to the following problems in a company:

  1. Business degradation due to destabilization of internal processes and reduced staff commitment.
  2. Reputational losses associated with the violation of obligations.
  3. Decreased motivation among the company’s employees.
  4. Increased tension in the team.
  5. Increase in the number of disciplinary violations by the staff, such as refusal to perform job duties, non-compliance with work regulations, etc.
  6. Reduction of the company’s profitability due to a decrease in its real income.

It should be emphasized here that control over the fulfillment of tasks is not a way to find and punish the guilty. This work pursues a different goal. It consists in building mutually beneficial partnerships between the company’s management and subordinates involved in the direct execution of tasks.

By tracking the work of full-time and remote employees, monitoring how efficiently and promptly they fulfill their assignments, i.e., essentially, by engaging in operational project management, the company’s manager is able to identify and eliminate subsequent errors and problems:

  1. Inefficient organization of work processes within the company.
  2. Employees with insufficient qualifications and experience are assigned to the role of executors and managers.
  3. Uneven distribution of the workload among the staff involved in the project tasks.
  4. Lack of effective schemes of interaction between departments within the company.
  5. Incorrect distribution of material resources, which slows down the work of individual employees and the entire organization.

Systematic monitoring of task performance can improve productivity within the team. This contributes to the company’s financial stability. Systematic monitoring of tasks leads to the formation of a favorable atmosphere within the team and contributes to the development of corporate culture in the company. Employees see that their work is important and is regularly evaluated, the manager is ready for a dialogue and helps to eliminate organizational errors, which means that it becomes easier to perform job duties, and there is a non-material interest in effective work.

As you can see, task performance monitoring is an important part of modern management and the company’s HR system. This work is based on its own principles and methods. There are many effective ways to monitor task performance, but not every one of them can be used in all companies. Sometimes there are absolutely unique situations that are not applicable to standard solutions. Managers of companies with a remote work system and flexible working hours find it difficult to understand the status of individual tasks and whether the company’s employees are achieving their goals. In this case, the usual intermediate control, carried out through personal presence and regular gathering of staff for planning meetings, becomes ineffective. In this case, the latest technical monitoring tools come to the aid of the manager, which can objectively show whether a particular specialist is performing the tasks assigned to him or her, at what time he or she does so, and how many hours he or she spends on direct production activities.

Conclusion

In summary, task monitoring is a critical component of project management. It helps keep projects on track, promotes accountability within the team, identifies potential risks, facilitates communication, and provides valuable insights for future projects. By investing in task monitoring, organizations can improve their project outcomes and achieve better results over time.
